Buhari should tackle corruption not fuel scarcity – Emeka Diwe

An Aba based industrialist, Chief Emeka Diwe, has urged the president elect Mohammadu Buhari to fulfil his campaign promises. Urging him to tackle the rate of corruption in the country, and avoid the calls for the removal of fuel subsidy.

Chief Emeka who stated that the removal of fuel subsidy, will bring untold hardship to Nigerians who are less priviledged, said that the only thing hampering the development of the country is not fuel subsidy, but corruption.

In his words, “Fuel subsidy is not our problem. There is a danger in this proposal calling for the removal of fuel subsidy because it is going to negatively affect the masses.”

“Corruption is a cankerworm and the only factor militating against the working of our refineries, the welfare of the common man and the capacity to address the poor state of infrastructure in Nigeria.

”The removal of subsidy will only create a
negative impact on the lives of the people.

”The only way to do this is by tackling
corruption even if Nigeria removes fuel
subsidy for 100 times, the country will still
be rudderless in addressing the so called
critical sectors.”
